Survey respondents were queried on eight aspects of their experience with agencies - issues such as politeness, trust and availability of assignments. Training opportunities offered by staffing firms scored the lowest level of satisfaction.The survey asked temporary workers, “If your staffing firm offered free training opportunities, to what degree would that interest you?” On a scale of 0 (“not interested”) to six (“it would be a huge benefit”) nearly half of temporary workers, 47%, selected six, the highest level of enthusiasm and another 10% selected five.Enthusiasm was moderately strong across all temporary worker age, pay, and occupation demographics.The report notes that while temporary workers want training, other factors such trust, availability of assignments and pay are more core to worker satisfaction.“Staffing agencies should see training as an opportunity to improve temporary worker satisfaction and retention,” said Jon Osborne, SIA’s VP, strategic research, and author of the report. “It’s a win-win, particularly if the skills being trained improve a temp’s prospects of being placed.”
